Terms of Use for Fridgey

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Fridgey mobile application (“Fridgey”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The service

Fridgey helps you track food in your fridge, reduce waste, and get recipe suggestions based on what you have. Some features rely on automated detection and AI-generated content, which can be inaccurate — see section 5.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use Fridgey. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity on your account. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from the You tab → Delete Account; see the Privacy Policy for details of what is deleted.

3. Fridgey Plus subscription

• Plans. Fridgey Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription, available as a monthly or annual plan. Prices are shown in the app before purchase and are charged through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
• Free trial. New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. You can cancel during the trial and pay nothing. Any unused trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Cancelling. You can cancel anytime in your store account settings (App Store: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Google Play: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions). Deleting the app or your Fridgey account does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google and refunds are handled under their policies. Contact the relevant store for refund requests.
• Changes. We may change subscription prices or features prospectively; changes never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for, and price changes follow the relevant store’s notice and consent rules.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the app — including attempting to access other users’ data, interfering with the service, reverse-engineering paid features, or using the app for anything unlawful.

5. Food safety and AI content — important

Fridgey’s item detection, expiry estimates, and recipe suggestions (including ingredient and allergen screening) are automated aids, not guarantees. They can be wrong or incomplete. Always check food labels, use-by dates, and ingredients yourself — especially if you or anyone you cook for has allergies, intolerances, or dietary requirements. We accept no responsibility for decisions made in reliance on automated suggestions.

6. Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Consumers resident elsewhere keep any mandatory protections of their local law.
