This Privacy Policy describes how the Fridgey mobile application (“Fridgey”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the app.
By using Fridgey you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
When you create an account we collect:
If you choose to set them, we also store your dietary preferences and allergies (for example vegetarian, halal, or a nut allergy), so generated recipes respect them. This information can reveal health details or religious beliefs. Because it is sensitive, we only store and use it if you explicitly agree: the first time you add a dietary preference or allergy, the app asks for your consent and explains that it is saved to your account and sent to Google Gemini to tailor your recipes. If you choose “Not now”, nothing is saved and recipes are not tailored. It is optional, used only to tailor recipes, and you can change it, or withdraw your consent and have it deleted, at any time from You → Dietary needs. We also record when you gave consent, and delete that record if you withdraw it.
Fridgey uses your device camera so you can photograph items in your fridge or kitchen. When you take a photo:
To provide the core functionality of the app we store:
To generate a recipe, the items in your fridge and your dietary preferences and allergies are sent to Google Gemini (see Section 3).
When you send feedback from the app (a bug report, an idea or another comment), we collect:
With a bug report or an idea, we also attach a short summary of your account’s state (your household identifier, how many items are on your list, and when you last made a change) and our backend’s logs from the five minutes before you sent it. Bug reports are filed in our private GitHub repository and ideas in Linear, our task tracker (see Section 3).
We collect basic technical information:
Expiry reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification token is sent to us.
If you subscribe to Fridgey Plus, we collect the information needed to manage your subscription:
We do not collect or store your payment-card details. All payments are processed by Apple or Google, and we never receive your card number. Subscription validation and entitlement management are handled on our behalf by RevenueCat (see Section 3).
We use the information we collect to:
